Actually, Slovenia joined the Eurozone 2 years ago (1/1/2007); etch was
already frozen at that time so that might explain it...

Meanwhile, Cyprus and Malta joined (1/1/2008).

I just checked both el_CY.UTF-8 and mt_MT.UTF-8 and the former results
to £ (symbol for the Cypriot lira) while the latter results to Lm
(symbol for the Maltese lira).

The checks were done on an up-to-date etch system, libc/locales-all
version 2.3.6.ds1-13etch8 using:

  LC_ALL=el_CY.UTF-8 \
  perl -MPOSIX=localeconv \
  -e 'print localeconv()->{currency_symbol}, "\n"'
