The ABI remains the same 3.7 (SONAMEs libpetsc_real.so.3.7 and libpetsc_complex.so.3.7) but ew packages libpetsc3.7.5, etc are introduced. This is because the debian packaging reflects the upstream installation structure which provides parallel installation of patch versions. Only a small number of packages are involved: slepc dolfin deal.ii getdp slepc, deal.ii and getdp will require rebuild. dolfin should be unaffected since it depend on the virtual ABI version libpetsc3.7 provided by libpetsc3.7.5 3.7.5+dfsg1-1 is already uploaded to experimental, ready to be dropped into unstable as petsc/3.7.5+dfsg1-2 with your agreement It would be a good service for the users of stretch if they had access to the bug fixes provided in this release. unblock petsc/3.7.5+dfsg1-2 -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.8.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system)
