I have talked to him on #debian-devel about a week ago and have asked
whether he was going to update the gpm package to the new upstream. I
think[1] he said he did not intend to because many of the patches did
not apply and it would introduce more fixes than bugs. I suggested to
save this information in the BTS and got the feeling that he intended
to do so.
