Hi, I've got another job for you - I'm not able to fix it within hours this time.
We should detect superflous {pre, post}{inst,rm} questions and ask the maintainers to remove them. Rationale: Debian GNU/Linux is already known as the one and only distribution that bothers the user with as many questions as it can. This makes the installation of Debian somewhat painful and non-intactive. Although there is - theoretically - another sub-project that addresses non-interactive installations which should try to reduce user required input of data. Here are two examples which I saw today: . Lynx Your homepage is http://www.(your domain)/ The default as given by lynx looks proper for many cases. Please simply use it. People who want to change this should be able to edit the configuration file: dpkg -s lynx -> /etc/lynx.cfg . gom The postinst of gom has a postinst configuration script which contains 'if you're unsure or don't know... it's safe to quit' This indicates that the default configuration is proper for most of the cases. Please don't ask but provide a gomconfig (haven't checked that yet) Regards, Joey -- The MS-DOS filesystem is nice for removable media. -- H.
