Keith Taylor:
Dear Debian Project Team,

My name is Keith Taylor, and I am a small YouTuber passionate about Linux and
its community. I am reaching out to seek your permission to use the Debian logo
for advocacy purposes in my videos and merchandise.

My goal is to promote Linux and open-source software while raising funds to
donate to Linux-related projects. As someone who admires the Debian project, I
want to ensure I respect your trademark and branding guidelines, including the
appropriate use of the Debian Open Use and Restricted Use logos.

The funds raised will go directly to supporting open-source projects and
initiatives. I would be happy to provide additional details about my channel
and plans if needed.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Keith Taylor

Hi Keith

Debian has publishes the rules for using the logo and trademark at:
 * https://www.debian.org/trademark

This includes some common use-cases that does not require permission as well as cases that we do not allow. I am unsure of what you mean with "advocacy purposes" and can see how it may fall into either side of the "allowed" or "never allowed" case.

Please follow up to tradem...@debian.org, if the trademark link above did not answer your question or you would like more clarity about how your use fits the policy.

Best regards,
Niels
