For me, having an equivalent to lists.debian.org archive is critical. I routinely go there to find posts on lists to which I am not subscribed. I've only used discourse a little for upstream Python things and I haven't had much luck with understanding the structure of things so I can find them later. I don't keep my own archives of all the Debian mailing lists and I certainly wouldn't do it for something new. And yes, I'm not in the demographic that's impressed by these shiny new toys. I still have yet to figure out any meaningful advantage Slack has over IRC despite having worked on projects where I had to use it a lot. Scott K
