=====
The new generation of cups-filters (2.x), split into libcupsfilters, libppd,
cups-filters, and cups-browsed, each of version 2.x, is not part of CUPS 3.x.
They are designed to work with BOTH CUPS 2.x and CUPS 3.x. They detect the
presence of the CUPS version (2.x or 3.x) in the "./configure" step and then
build appropriately.

The cups-filters 2.x components are fully functional and work without problems
with CUPS 2.x. In Ubuntu I have switched to cups-filters 2.x from version 23.04
on and all is working.

If you have any problems with the transition in Debian, please check the Ubuntu
packages.

CUPS 3.x is indeed not ready yet and if, according to Michael Sweet, all the 3
components of it (libcups, cups-local, cups-sharing) will be ready mid-2025, so
if all works well, I will do the switch-over in Ubuntu 25.10.
=====

So please keep the 2.x generation packages of cups-filters in Debian. Check the Ubuntu packages for correct dependency handling.
