It would be important to get such feedback. FWIW, I did actually fix several packages to build without Altivec support, so it's not that I want to raise the baseline. I just want to make sure that we use the right baseline. Another idea could be to disable Altivec for the 32-bit port and enable it on the 64-bit port so that the 64-bit embedded CPUs could use the 32-bit port.
