There are no PowerPC G3 or earlier Mac systems that support Altivec. Ideally, software would be able to determine at runtime whether Altivec is supported and run accordingly. Otherwise, Debian will lose PowerMac 603e and G3 users. It's impossible to know how many, since many of them likely don't follow these forums. -Stan
