Hi Ken, thanks a lot for your rapid answer that enabled me solve (at least partially) that problem. I should have thought to look into ybin before posting ;-) Anyway, the error was caused by the non-existence of a '/root/.tmp' dir! I still lack a dual boot, but this is another issue ... (I'm almost convinced, at this point, that Mac OS 9 cannot master more that 60GB hd) Thanks again.
