I'm trying to get my airport card working on my ibook 800Mhz G3. It used
to work fine, in multiple locations with my 2.4.25 kernel on my ibook
500Mhz! I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong -- I've installed wireless
tools. I expected to see "hermes" and "orinoco" listed in lsmod, but if
I try to insmod these they can not be found.
Did you build that kernel yourself? If so, I'm guessing you didn't build
support for the Airport card into your kernel. Try doing 'modprobe
airport', and see if the module loads. If not, you need to go into
'Networking devices/Wireless networking (non-hamradio)' and enable the
Hermes and Orinoco drivers. One of the options under them, once they're
enabled, will be for Apple Airport support.

Yes, this is the eth1394 driver at work.
