Hello, All. I just bought myself a brand new iBook 600MHz combo, with a 20GB HD. It is a nice machine and I'm surprised with the crispness of its LCD, compared with other notebooks that I have used in the past.
But it is not perfect: its HD seems *quite* noisy when it is reading random tracks and this is worrying me a lot, even though is is relatively silent during sequential reads (but it can still be heard). So, I would like to know if this is common with the new iBooks with large HDs or if I should exchange it with a new one. I am afraid of losing data if it is defective and dies soon. :-( The information that made me worry about this is that at http://www.xiph.org/~jack/ibook/thoughts.html, Jack says that the machine (his is an iBook 500) is quite silent and that he can't usually hear the it work when he is in a silent environment. Well, any comments are more than welcome. Thanks in advance, Roger... -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Rogério Brito - [EMAIL PROTECTED] - http://www.ime.usp.br/~rbrito/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
