I am trying to set up my ibook to auto-detect and automatically set up its ethernet connection. I have not been able to find any information as to how and where to look for things like connection state information, other than /var/log/syslog which, being as large as it usually is, is possibly a little more work than I would want. Could not find anything useful in the source code for the gmac.o module either, but that could be because I have little C programming experience.
