Im Prinzip ja.  It gives you the infrastructure to use the patch with
all those nifty tools that make kernel building on Debian so much
easier.  As far as the source is concerned, the copyright file states
quite clearly that I got it from the rsync tree you mention, so no
differences there.

Yes.  That's how the xfs patch is packaged.  You will encounter a few
offsets, but no failures.
