This is NOT the default behavior on the C500 I'm installing. I installed Potato, then upgraded to Woody. I can log in as root and I've not (yet) changed any of the config files that are installed by default. Not sure it asked, or if it did what I replied, during the upgrade to keep Potato config or upgrade to Woody config -- but one of the default configs is setup to allow root to login. Kevin
