ext3 is not in the 'official' kernel's though, is there a reason for it ? Is it political, does it still need testing, or are there some issues yet ? and BTW, having the /var/lib/dpkg/status file corrupted is a big mess, is there any way to rebuild it without resinstalling all packages (guessed at from a ls of /usr/share/doc ...)
