Ethan, Now I found out what was wrong the last time I tried. I used yaboot_1.2.3... from penguinppc.org (the potato backport) Yaboot doesn't set up the yaboot.conf properly, I have to add "nonvram" manually, now it works fine and doesn't hang on mfokboot :-) My machine is a RS/6000 model 7046 B50 (chrp) if that is of any help for fixing this in yabootconfig.
