Hi all, On 18 Apr, this message from Michel Dänzer echoed through cyberspace: > eth1 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"public" Nickname:"HERMES I" > Frequency:2.442GHz Sensitivity:1/3 Mode:Managed > Access Point: 00:40:96:38:53:3C > Bit Rate:11Mb/s RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off > Power Management:off > Link quality:38/92 Signal level:-54 dBm Noise level:-92 dBm > Rx invalid nwid:0 invalid crypt:0 invalid misc:0
I am now geting the same values as you, being around 1.5 - 2m away from the base station. Something that should be avoided: hanging the base staion onto a vertical surface with Apple's bracket. This reduced receive level by 10 dB for me! I suppose the problem lies in the polarization of the electromagnetic waves, which would in that case be different, hence non-aligned, and greatly reduce receive levels. I'll have to open up the base station and see in what position they mounted the antenna ;-) Cheers Michel ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michel Lanners | " Read Philosophy.
