Yeah, that's for the corresponding kernel daemons(?), kupdate etc., but
I think they have been in 2.2.x for a while. Maybe only on ppc, though...

I'm not sure what you're doing in your init scripts, but I've posted my
pwrctl-settings to set different timeouts on battery vs. mains in the 
original thread. 3600 secs was definitely too risky for development kernels, 
at least when there's no need to save power ;-).
