i knew i should have rechecked that detail, i did add just -d
(according to the man page for my bootpd the number is deprecated) 

ill fix that.  

really it seems like there should be a better way to find the MAC
address but i could not get this to work without explicity defining
it.  and all the examples in the man page had a MAC defined so it must
be necessary.  (perhaps for security purposes?)
