I really must fix this soon. the problem is that I don't know what is at fault. Anyway, since you have a shell open, I suggest you do the following. Manually install the readline debs libreadlineg2-dbg_2.1-13.2_powerpc.deb libreadlineg2-dev_2.1-13.2_powerpc.deb libreadlineg2_2.1-13.2_powerpc.deb with dpkg -i <files> it might complain about some dependencies - I don't remember- so add --force-depends before <files> Then do dpkg -i bash_2.02.1-1.4_powerpc.deb bash-builtins_2.02.1-1.4_powerpc.deb Again it might complain, just add --force-depends again. After doing this, try to open a shell. if it works, then all is ok. if not.... then just keep this shell open! and wait for a new bash release -should be soon, maybe after the weekend. btw, if you by any chance use irc, i am on irc.debian.org as Feanor, usually on debian-devel. I would gladly help. I really hope I helped. - -- Konstantinos Margaritis -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.3ia Charset: noconv iQCVAwUBNxira/alfJok8qABAQHOewP/X/7WLlQojwsQWp8wCsZVkCYBC7GYpWuT iqfZSjZ2IMhympdrSqi5+zBK2pK22LDebOcxI2jFeTd9TNY2sg/mo2M7tx8feng3 BSv4S8s8BKdLSP+cu2srq5FnXfBWe8VRzx4JC8gY3vDJGJsAw807ttSflt+yVuyz kQ+VK16MgtQ= =pkMw -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
