I have updated the patch to encourage Debian members to not install Steam on their Debian development machines. I think it is reasonable for Debian members to install proprietary games on machines they don't use for Debian development though. That said, I'm sure many of us already have non-free software on our systems; pretty much anyone who uses amd64 for example has fairly untrustworthy firmware somewhere on their system. > spending time on such games may not be the most productive use of > their time for the project. I find this to be a fairly silly argument. The way Debian members use their time is completely their own choice. We don't expect them to work on Debian instead of playing board games, going to the movies, going to the beach, spending time with friends/family and so on. Computer gaming should be no different. I expect gaming is also an important stress relief for some, especially after reading some Debian mailing lists. I think it is important for Debian members and users to have some fun in their lives and games (Free or not) are one such source of fun, which is why I work in and support the Debian games team. Happily XKCD 306 is not the reality of being a Debian member today and I hope it never will be. https://xkcd.com/306/ http://packages.debian.org/sid/games/ https://wiki.debian.org/Games/Team -- bye, pabs http://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise
