If you want to package apache, and I want to package apache, and jack wants to package apache, and tom wants to package apache, and ... you get the picture. No matter how big Debian gets, do we want 53 packages of apache 2.2.4 from 53 different people? Christoph> Maybe we could say that it is recommended that bigger Christoph> efforts be announced and discussed on debian-devel? I think this is a bad idea. Big is also fuzzy and subjective. How much does it take to fire off a mail message a priory? Packaging a Debian package takes lots more effort than that (as you well know). Can someone who finds sending a mail message too much work really maintain a package? ;-) Christoph> The initial packaging of something might take less time Christoph> than the discussion on debian-devel. Usually therte is no response (look it up in the archives). When there was discussion, usually there was a problem, which the maintainer was better of having resolved. I intend to package X as vaporware? No, most vaporware is usually I intend to write Y. manoj -- The destruction of the Berlin wall marked history's first feminine revolution: There had been no violence and when it ended everybody went shopping.
