Hi Paul, Muffin is effectively a fork of mutter. They decided the fork after trying to get many of their changes integrated in mutter but it was always refused by the gnome folks. But this is what I've understood. I will try to get from upstream the precise email exchange referring to the refusal and leading to the decision the fork. Currently, it is effectively only few commits, but as far as I know it will diverge more and more in future (ie. no intention to merge back). I'll contact upstream on that matter and inform you back.
