If you used the right syntax, that probably happened because it wasn't part of the last changelog entry, in which case dpkg-buildpackage's -v option should have been used for the upload. For this specific example, you should look for appropriate mailing-lists (the porters for that architecture / buildd admins, or a list for Debian users of that architecture).
