Just to make sure we're all talking about the same thing, Sandro, are you referring to this:
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Debian-Binary-Package-Building-HOWTO/ If so, I think you should have read the introduction more carefully, where the author states: "The intended use of such a newly created archive is to install it only on your own box, not to get them into the official Debian distribution. To follow the 'official' process, please study the Debian New Maintainers' Guide." I bring this up on the list not to embarass you, but because occassionally there is some confusion on this issue. I have been involved with several sponsorees who proposed binary-only packages. In general, this concept no longer exists within Debian proper. (I suppose there are exception cases, but I can't think of one at the moment.) In this case, the .pm is the source for Crypt::Simple, so you will most likely be creating an "Arch: all" package. But as Brendan states, what needs to be uploaded into the archive are the .dsc, .diff.gz, and .orig.tar.gz files, not just the .deb. [BTW, I pulled debian-perl out of the cc: list since it seemed woefully OT, and cc'd Brendan directly.] Sandro Tosi wrote: >>By source package, Russ was referring to the following files: >> >> libcrypt-simple-perl_0.06-1.dsc >> libcrypt-simple-perl_0.06-1.diff.gz >> libcrypt-simple-perl_0.06.orig.tar.gz > > > I think it's a binary package: I take the .pm file from CPAN, and > taking other lib as model, I've created a pianry package.
