If what you are asking is to package the emboss libraries as public library packages, my answer is no. There is no demand nor need for this. The packages in Sid are now using the libraries privately. That is enough, and does not make any implicit promise that we can not keep because backwards compatibility is sometimes broken. If there are some other modifications that are important for the Lenny to Squeeze upgrade, please be more precise. When you ask for ‘high-quality package’ or ‘get emboss fixed’, it does not give much hint on what you are thinking about in particular. - If you would like the emboss package in Testing to be corrected, I can prepare a Testing update version 6.1.0-6 that will have tighter dependance on emboss-lib, plus Breaks declarations where needed, so that partial upgrade of just emboss from Squeeze in Lenny will work. - If you agree to let the latest stable upstream release migrate to Squeeze, please let me know what in 6.3.1-6 would cause upgrade difficulties to Lenny users.
