I am asking because I will do a lot of work on persistence features pretty soon and don't want to invest time patching code that will disappear or be rewritten.
don't worry, so far, what you've done is great and i'll merge it anyway for 3.x; whatever 3.x will do at the end will be on top of that.

i'll do so properly and in detail once starting to working on live-boot 3.x after squeeze, which will be very soon.
