we discussed at debconf how persistency in general and specifically wrt/ live-config should and will be handled. this is not yet implemented and will be done in 3.x relatively soon after squeeze.
2.x does not work properly with persistency and changing configuration afterwards in various places. same as with multilanguage, instead of fixing some parts and leaving out others in 2.x, from a project point of view, it's better to not change it at all in 2.x and advertise 3.x as working properly with persistency and changing configuration.
also, as squeeze is RSN, 2.x shall not substancially be changed anymore anyway.
