And for whatever it's worth, as long as I'm maintaining the packages, these files will almost certainly not be removed unless there's some overwhelmingly convincing reason, like debian-legal tells me it needs to be done, there's a successful General Resolution passed on a relevant topic, or they're removed from the upstream... In any case, presuming debian-legal becomes satisfied that I don't need to do anything about these files, I'll either mark this bug wonfix, or more likely, close it.
