hi all, i am not subscribed to debian-legal and i know that the argument has been already submitted, but i want to make some comments of the gnu fdl. imho, nothing in it can design a document released under fdl as non-free. we had a discussion about the fact that maybe dfsg are not applicable to non-software licenses, but if that is the case (i.e., docs are not comparable to software) all the documents in main should go away.
if that's the case we need to write a set of "free documentation guidelines" and upgrade the social contract (a vote is required, i think.) as an interim solution, i propose to let the docs stay in (we all know they are free!) and include fdl in base-file (.../common-licenses/) comments? federico p.s. this is xposted to -devel because a problem like is general enough to be taken to the attention of all developers, imho. feel free to remove -devel from answers, if you don't agree. -- Federico Di Gregorio MIXAD LIVE System Programmer [EMAIL PROTECTED] Debian GNU/Linux Developer & Italian Press Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] Don't dream it.
