| giuseppe bellini I read the tuxmobil...but I didn__t found what I was
| looking for...My real doubt is if I need informations like HorizSync
| and VertRefresh ...I have found on the google some xorg.conf with this
| informations an others without.

I would try without, first. (Does debconf ask you something laptop specific
at install time ? Don't know, it's long since my last debian installation.)

There was a friend with a new Ubuntu installation on a T21 some days before,
but it booted into low VGA mode (640x400 or so) only, because somehow a wrong
max hsync line got inserted into the xorg.conf: 33.3 KHz was too less for
1024x768,
it had to be more than 35 (according to the Xorg.0.log), and i seem to remember
a
recommended value of 43 (to be on the safe side, probably).
I think LCD don't work 'synced' like that, anyway, and Knoppix inserts
something
around 70 even if you choose the laptop kernel, so i guess, for LCD upper limit
just
doesn't matter. This example shows, however, that a wrong value could take
effect,
though rather on the X code than on the hardware.
