I got my sony vaio working on 1400x1050 without problems with following
monitor setting (modeline) in XF86Config-4
(works for xfree 4.x, currently running 4.3)
Its a ati rage and a display wich seems to have a static resolution (means it
shows only little square in the middle of the screen when resolution too low)
