Debian runs fine on a 386 SX. My primary mailserver is a 386 SX, so I know. (Not a laptop, but don't worry about that.) It's the 8 MB RAM that's your ouch. You might want to stick with Slink rather than the newer stuff. I *highly* recommend staying in console mode, and getting a newer kernel after things settle in, as the older ones have had some bugs. > ps.
