No that's normal. The first device is your soundcard, the second is the software modem. Alsa has a module snd_intel8x0m (m for modem) that supports softmodems like that, but I have not tried that myself (use sl-modem myself). Did you try setting the volume? AFAIK the volume is always set to 0 by default after installation. Cheers, FJP
