Thanks....seems you weere the only one who actually realized that this was way more than I could handle...in Windows XP..I'm not bragging....but I'm somewhat proficient....but when I saw all these different signs when I hit a key in this program...(Debian)....I couldn't believe it...looked like language from another planet....thanks once again for your understanding  of my dilema....:-)
