There was a regression in v2.6.39-rc1 that has been fixed in v3.0.3 (so the fix will probably be in the next upload to squeeze) and probably is not relevant here. You are able to list networks ("ip link set wlan1 up && iw dev wlan1 scan") but for some reason are not able to connect to one ("iw dev wlan1 connect SMCnetfree"). No message appears in dmesg when you try. Do I understand correctly?
