On the first reboot after purging all fglrx packages and doing "Xorg -console" (using the xorg radeon driver) it seemed to be better but then crashed nastily. I now consistently can log into Gnome but only get to see the desktop, no panels or menus, just before X starts I see a bunch of segfaults fly. What the segfault is it doesn't say, just a screenful before switching mode to the gdm3 launcher. Booting with 2.6.32 works fine still. Running gstreamer-properties segfaults too, with no dialog being shown. In 2.6.32 playing the same files works fine but I still have the flicker from the radeon driver, only this time once every minute or so. Its all most confusing...
