Hi, I thought some updated info might be handy.
Gnome did crash out once too giving this in the messages file: Feb 21 15:40:59 chaosx kernel: [ 17.967378] console-kit-dae[2094]: segfault at 14 ip 00007fd20cc7a890 sp 00007fff593dd108 error 6 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7fd20cc59000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:02 chaosx kernel: [ 21.808923] gnome-settings-[2182]: segfault at 7f344a3f0190 ip 00007f3449111be0 sp 00007fffd0e547d8 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f34490f0000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:03 chaosx kernel: [ 21.937018] polkit-gnome-au[2257]: segfault at 14 ip 00007f6ca9fdc890 sp 00007fff51041338 error 6 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f6ca9fbb000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:03 chaosx kernel: [ 21.958843] metacity[2256]: segfault at 7f7d7d69a190 ip 00007f7d7b1d7be0 sp 00007ffff3e8a5b8 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f7d7b1b6000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:03 chaosx kernel: [ 22.023129] console-kit-dae[2263]: segfault at 14 ip 00007f3b556dc890 sp 00007fffd41fc418 error 6 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f3b556bb000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:03 chaosx kernel: [ 22.118534] metacity[2261]: segfault at 7f142b49b190 ip 00007f1428fd8be0 sp 00007fffbe3f6e48 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f1428fb7000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:03 chaosx kernel: [ 22.177247] metacity[2332]: segfault at 7f5616099190 ip 00007f5613bd6be0 sp 00007fff65f16cc8 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f5613bb5000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:03 chaosx kernel: [ 22.242582] metacity[2333]: segfault at 7f4958dc1190 ip 00007f49568febe0 sp 00007fff1ad98c48 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f49568dd000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:03 chaosx kernel: [ 22.274685] upowerd[2331]: segfault at 14 ip 00007ffcaca70890 sp 00007fff2625ada8 error 6 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7ffcaca4f000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:03 chaosx kernel: [ 22.313340] upowerd[2347]: segfault at 14 ip 00007fcd4407c890 sp 00007fffc4eb4258 error 6 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7fcd4405b000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:07 chaosx kernel: [ 26.828296] show_signal_msg: 78 callbacks suppressed Feb 21 15:41:07 chaosx kernel: [ 26.828302] metacity[2475]: segfault at 7f5f05e57190 ip 00007f5f03994be0 sp 00007fff5f91e198 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f5f03973000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:07 chaosx kernel: [ 26.880352] metacity[2476]: segfault at 7f60be507190 ip 00007f60bc044be0 sp 00007fff60ce4358 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f60bc023000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:08 chaosx kernel: [ 26.932805] metacity[2477]: segfault at 7f05b417a190 ip 00007f05b1cb7be0 sp 00007fffdc308078 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f05b1c96000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:08 chaosx kernel: [ 26.985069] metacity[2478]: segfault at 7f694ac59190 ip 00007f6948796be0 sp 00007fff2e81e018 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f6948775000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:08 chaosx kernel: [ 27.037500] metacity[2479]: segfault at 7f5e12687190 ip 00007f5e101c4be0 sp 00007fffcd530cb8 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f5e101a3000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:08 chaosx kernel: [ 27.089863] metacity[2480]: segfault at 7fdb3dc72190 ip 00007fdb3b7afbe0 sp 00007fffab860688 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7fdb3b78e000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:08 chaosx kernel: [ 27.142223] metacity[2481]: segfault at 7ff75e58f190 ip 00007ff75c0ccbe0 sp 00007fffc3c50248 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7ff75c0ab000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:08 chaosx kernel: [ 27.194479] metacity[2482]: segfault at 7f50c07e2190 ip 00007f50be31fbe0 sp 00007fff97c5c058 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f50be2fe000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:08 chaosx kernel: [ 27.246771] metacity[2483]: segfault at 7f0dd4747190 ip 00007f0dd2284be0 sp 00007fff8ca68e78 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f0dd2263000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:08 chaosx kernel: [ 27.299293] metacity[2484]: segfault at 7f014d01e190 ip 00007f014ab5bbe0 sp 00007fff17580d08 error 7 in libglib-2.0.so.0.2800.1[7f014ab3a000+e8000] Feb 21 15:41:13 chaosx kernel: [ 31.929058] show_signal_msg: 86 callbacks suppressed Eventually it just all freezes up. This one doesn't seem to happen too often though I don't use the 2.6.37 kernel as it seems so fragile. Adobe's 64bit beta flashplayer (10.3 d162) works fine on a random youtube video in 2.6.32. In 2.6.37 it crashes immediately, lets me send a bug report to adobe, restarts and crashes again immediately. Running firefox (64bit, version 4 beta 12) from the terminal gives the following errors in the terminal: ###!!! [Parent][RPCChannel] Error: Channel error: cannot send/recv ###!!! [Parent][AsyncChannel] Error: Channel error: cannot send/recv ###!!! [Parent][AsyncChannel] Error: Channel error: cannot send/recv ###!!! [Parent][AsyncChannel] Error: Channel error: cannot send/recv ###!!! [Parent][AsyncChannel] Error: Channel error: cannot send/recv This could be because its their beta player but it happens everytime. Hellanzb Using hellanzb to download from my usenet server gave me errors. I can't remember if this was at the same time that Gnome had crashed. Also, using Gnome's Archive Manager to unzip a previously downloaded set of files containing one ISO file inside spew out crc error messages and it aborts less than halfway through the 4 GB set. Upon rebooting to the 2.6.32 kernel all is fine again. dselect, flash player, hellanzb and extraction all work as normal.
