I know this option is labelled as "legacy", but it is still required for, eg, scsitools' rescan-scsi-bus.sh script - as far as I know there is no other way to force Linux to notice that a device has been plugged or a RAID controller configured to make a device accessible. Can it be enabled in future Debian kernels?
I'm unfortunately getting to the point where I need to build custom kernels; however the old systems I've built are based on kernel-package which seems to be deprecated. Is there a simple piece of documentation I can be pointed at for the best way to build customised kernels based on Debian's ones? Cheers, Sam
