Because KMS does not seem to work well for me so a mechanism for switching it off other than rebooting would come handy at times. Of course, I can always edit my startup scripts to not enable it and reboot. Not enabling it in startup scripts is not an option since X fails in KMS mode unless the module is manually preloaded.
