Hello kernel team, I wanted to apply a patch to the kernel yesterday, and after running into problems with make-kpkg, I found
http://wiki.debian.org/HowToRebuildAnOfficialDebianKernelPackage and adopted the method. I even rewrote most of the wiki page to make sure it applies. Comments welcome, of course. My problem now is that the single kernel variant instructions only yield 8 packages: linux-image-2.6.24-1+foo.1-686_2.6.24-5+foo.1_i386.deb linux-headers-2.6.24-1+foo.1-686_2.6.24-5+foo.1_i386.deb linux-support-2.6.24-1+foo.1-686_2.6.24-5+foo.1_i386.deb linux-tree-2.6.24_2.6.24-5+foo.1_i386.deb linux-patch-debian-2.6.24_2.6.24-5+foo.1_i386.deb linux-source-2.6.24_2.6.24-5+foo.1_i386.deb linux-manual-2.6.24_2.6.24-5+foo.1_i386.deb linux-doc-2.6.24_2.6.24-5+foo.1_i386.deb Unfortunately, linux-headers-2.6.24-1+foo.1-686 depends on linux-headers-2.6.24-1+foo.1-common, but that is not being created until I build binary-arch_i386, which takes infinitely longer. Shouldn't the binary-arch_i386_none_686 target build the common headers too, since its result depends on them? -- .''`. martin f. krafft <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> : :' : proud Debian developer, author, administrator, and user `. `'` http://people.debian.org/~madduck - http://debiansystem.info `- Debian - when you have better things to do than fixing systems "the mind of the thoroughly well-informed man is a dreadful thing. it is like a bric-à-brac shop, all monsters and dust, with everything priced above its proper value." -- oscar wilde
