Package: linux-image-2.6.15-1-k7 Version: 2.6.15-8 Followup-For: Bug #345864
Hello, I think I triggered that bug two. My harddisk got corrupted and I had to reinstall Debian two times since I am trying to upgrade to 2.6.15-k7. The first time libc6 was defective and I had to reinstall from scratch, the second time only libasound2 was corrupted. The only IDE related problems I found were while DMA enabling during boot. hdparm sets some parameters and the kernel replied: Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: mice: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: hdc: status error: status=0x10 { SeekComplete } Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: ide: failed opcode was: unknown Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: hdc: status error: status=0x10 { SeekComplete } Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: ide: failed opcode was: unknown Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: hdc: status error: status=0x18 { SeekComplete DataRequest } Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: ide: failed opcode was: unknown Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: hdc: status error: status=0x18 { SeekComplete DataRequest } Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: ide: failed opcode was: unknown Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: hdc: DMA disabled Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: hdc: ATAPI reset complete Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: hdd: dma_intr: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: ide: failed opcode was: unknown Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: hdd: set_drive_speed_status: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: ide: failed opcode was: unknown Mar 23 22:56:55 fantasio kernel: EXT3 FS on hdd1, internal journal hdc is DVD hdd is the harddisk hdparm was trying to do: /dev/hdd { mult_sect_io = 16 dma = on lookahead = on io32_support = 1 spindown_time = 12 } After the libasound corruption I rebuild 2.6.15 without any debian patches (using the .orig file and the .config from debian) and I can now set the harddisk parameters without errors. I still have a problem that my USB mouse is not working correctly, but I hope that this is not related. regards Frank Some more info: $ lspci 0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc.
