Hi Xan,

It's good to hear that I'm not the only one dealing with this issue. On both my machines, I'm using |mariadb-server| version:

mariadb-server: Installed: 1:10.11.6-0+deb12u1 Candidate: 1:10.11.6-0+deb12u1 Version table: *** 1:10.11.6-0+deb12u1 500 500 https://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
||

Unfortunately, these are production machines, so I can't experiment too much. However, I've noticed that some of these hangs seem to be transient. The Zabbix instance running on the database sometimes unexpectedly warns that its value caches are full. This is also a symptom I've seen after restarting the stuck MariaDB.

In my case, the hangs don't occur during replication since I only have single instances, but when I look at the output from |mariadb-admin processlist|, I see the database hanging on trivial operations, ie., some SELECTs that finish immediately when not in this stuck state.

Additionally, I've found that only downgrading the kernel makes a difference. Downgrading the other packages of the point release does not resolve the issue.

If you'd file a bug report with MariaDB's tracker, please let me know! I'm really interested in resolving this problem.

Max
