I had very mixed luck with the switch driver with 4.7.x and 4.8.x, but ethernet generally worked ok. With 4.9.x, I was able to get all ports working well. Were you plugging into the WAN port, or one of the switch ports? Is the b53 module listed in nic-modules udeb? I don't see mention of it at a quick glance, or is it pulled in with some globbing? live well, vagrant p.s. I've haven't been tracking the udebs as much lately, tired of playing whack-a-mole with the exact right modules in the exact right udeb... instead I've been manually appending all the drivers into the initrd as an additional cpio archive...
