Thanks for the info. Please read _OFF_ above. Evolution is always running when the system crashes. I am running a dist-upgrade every couple of days. I have used 3 kernels: 2.6.8-1-k7 (2.6.8-5) 2.6.8-2-k7 (2.6.8-13) 2.6.8-2-k7 (2.6.8-16) I still have the first one and I will revert to it later today. There is some small chance this is a hardware problem but it seems very unlikely. Christoph Beier reported similar hard crashes on debian-testing without any reference to sound. I looked through the bugs list on gnome and evolution has a "data-server" which seems to leak memory fairly agressively and which keeps running after you quit. However, a user-space application should not be able to crash the system. I have used linux for 12 years and never seen anything this bad ... I've only heard about it from windows users. --gh -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
