There is some interesting stuff in /var/log/kern.log: The crash occured about 22:24:11 (according to the logs) You can see the kernel start to write messages about 22:23:27 the lines before this show that the state was quiet until this started. -------------------------------------------- Jun 6 20:28:23 cal kernel: agpgart: Putting AGP V3 device at 0000:00:00.0 into 4x mode Jun 6 20:28:23 cal kernel: agpgart: Putting AGP V3 device at 0000:01:00.0 into 4x mode Jun 6 20:28:23 cal kernel: [drm] Loading R200 Microcode Jun 6 20:28:38 cal kernel: nfs warning: mount version older than kernel Jun 6 22:23:27 cal kernel: scheduling while atomic: metacity/0x00001e00/7039 Jun 6 22:23:27 cal kernel: [schedule+1206/1216] schedule+0x4b6/0x4c0 Jun 6 22:23:27 cal kernel: [__get_free_pages+51/64] __get_free_pages +0x33/0x40Jun 6 22:23:27 cal kernel: [schedule_timeout+181/192] schedule_timeout+0xb5/0xc0 Jun 6 22:23:27 cal kernel: [sock_poll+41/64] sock_poll+0x29/0x40 Jun 6 22:23:27 cal kernel: [do_pollfd+79/144] do_pollfd+0x4f/0x90 ---------------- lots left out ---------------- Jun 6 22:24:01 cal kernel: [schedule_timeout+181/192] schedule_timeout +0xb5/0xc0 Jun 6 22:24:01 cal kernel: [sock_poll+41/64] sock_poll+0x29/0x40 Jun 6 22:24:01 cal kernel: [do_pollfd+79/144] do_pollfd+0x4f/0x90 Jun 6 22:24:01 cal kernel: [do_poll+170/208] do_poll+0xaa/0xd0 Jun 6 22:24:01 cal kernel: [sys_poll+338/544] sys_poll+0x152/0x220 Jun 6 22:24:01 cal kernel: [__pollwait+0/208] __pollwait+0x0/0xd0 Jun 6 22:24:01 cal kernel: [syscall_call+7/11] syscall_call+0x7/0xb Jun 6 22:39:11 cal kernel: klogd 1.4.1#17, log source = /proc/kmsg started.
