Well, after fixing a long standing performance bug in Akonadi maildir resource with the help of Sergio and David[1], I took also compiled all the rest of kdepim and also Baloo, and I say: I am impressed. It indexed files and PIM data so fast I couldn´t even believe it. I don´t know yet whether the index is complete, maybe some files are missing since I stopped the file indexer manually once... but it finds mails, it finds files… and that as well blazingly fast. Now this machine isn´t basically slow with its Dual SSD BTRFS RAID-1, yet… its nice. Some people indeed report performance troubles, but that may at least partly related to reindexing often changing files. So I bet there are still issues, but for me flies circles around Nepomuk. *Easily*.
