I've made some noise on a bug report about the lack of the PC style beep in Konsole. One response was on the order of adding an option for it would confuse users. I hope the goal of KDE is not to emulate GNOME so closely that features are being dropped. The beep may come back as it appears that the enable system notifications option that enables the beep is broken in 4.2.2 but a fix has been applied if I read things right. Perhaps this will be corrected in 4.2.4.
