I'm sure it does something magical that makes a lot of sense, but it doesn't seem to even work with my kernel (2.6.10), and there are assorted (niche-specific, non-mainstream) things I've never managed to get working with any kernel newer than this. Maybe if I wait long enough, it will all go away. I didn't bother with devfs either, and look how that turned out. :) If not, I'll deal with it when I no longer have the option to ignore it. -- D.
